GS3PYE/p from the Decca cottage, on the isle of Lewis (IOSA OH01, SCOTIA HI21,
WLOTA 1477, WW Loc. IO68UL), Outer Hebrides (EU-010), between 26th April and 3rd
May 2014. QRV on 80m to 10m covered with five stations on the air
simultaneously, all capable of running the legal power limit from five linear
amplifiers. 6m and 4m with a great take-off to the UK and Europe, all at legal
limit. With the success of EME in the past years they plan a 2m and 23cm EME

01/05/2014: Mal, VK6LC, will be celebrating 31 Years of DXing 1983-2014 by
having a North and South America DX Vacation during the months of May, June and
July, 2014. From 1-31st May Mel will be active as W6, W7, W9, W1, W4/VK6LC,
Amtrak Railway Mobile, 2m FM simplex (146.520 MHz). The first week of June, Mal
will join forces with Pedro, HK3JJH, in Bogota, Colombia. From 5-9th June they
will be QRV from the Anazon Jungle, Colombia, as HK9/VK6LC and HK9/HK3JJH.
Between 13-17th June will see the active from San Andres Island (NA-033, WLOTA
2990, WWFF HKFF-035) as HK0/VK6LC and HK0/HK3JJH. Mal will then be active once
again from Bogota as HK3/VK6LC from 18-24 June. From 26-29th June and 9-12th

May, 2014. Activity will be holiday style on the HF bands, using SSB and CW. QSL

10/05/2014: During the weekend of 10-11th May, using the callsign MX0INT, a
four man "Invoker Team" consisting Christian EA3NT, Vincent F4BKV, Gil F4FET and
Col MM0NDX plan to be active from the outer Farne island of Longstone (EU-109,
WAB NU23, Grid Loc. IO95). Activity will also count for the Longstone lighthouse
(Admiralty A2814, ARLHS ENG-070, WLOTA 0234). At this stage it is likely the
activation will be during local daylight hours only, however they will strive
for a longer activation period when actually there, working with island

1517, WWFF SMFF-3495), using the callsign 7S6W, between 22-25 May, 2014. The
team will try to set up three stations (bringing equipment for four), all with

28/05/2014: Masa, JA0RQV, plans to be active as A35JP/p from Hihifo village,
Niuatoputapu [aka Keppel] Island (OC-191) between 28 May and 3 June, 2014. QRV
on 80-6 metre CW and SSB using a IC-7000 and vertical antenna. Activity will be
sporadic as Masa will have to rely on generator and/or car battery for power.
Note: in case of flight cancellation, Masa will activate either Vava'u Island

permission for all VK amateurs to use the prefix AX. Australian amateur
operators will also be able to use the AX prefix once again for World

26/04/2014: Organized by the Cornish Radio Amateur Club, the International
Marconi Day (IMD) is a 24-hour amateur radio event held annually to celebrate
the birth of Guglielmo Marconi (25 April 1874). It is not a contest, but an
opportunity for amateurs around the world to make contacts with historic Marconi
sites using HF communications techniques. This year's event will be held on 26
April, from 0000 UTC through 2359 UTC. Details, including information on the

The Florida Chapter of NAQCC will hold their April Field Event tomorrow, April

13/07/2014: Lance, W7GJ, plans to be active as KH8/W7GJ from Tula, island of
Tutuila (OC-045 WLOTA 4385, WW Loc. AH45RS) on 6m EME between 13-28th July 2014.
He will concentrate on 13-21 July when EME conditions are most favorable. Once
again Bob, ZL1RS (KH8/ZL1RS), is planning on providing 2m EME operation from the
same location during approximately the same period. Bob's results and detailed

operate on terrestrial propagation modes if they become available, but expect to

18/04/2014: The Puerto Rico Field Day Group, Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico
(NA-099, USi PR-006S, WLOTA 2802), will activate KP4FD for the 89th World
Amateur Radio Day on 18th April, 2014. The theme for this year is "Amateur
Radio - Your Gateway for Wireless Communications". Activity will be on all bands

19/04/2014: Special event station HO100CANAL will be active from 19 April
through 15 August, the date that marks the 100th anniversary of the formal

23/04/2014: Between 23rd and 29th of April 2014 look for the following stations
to be active to celebrate ARRL's centennial year: W1AW/1 operated by Bob WA1Z,

25/04/2014: The Amateur Radio Section of ORF (the Austrian Broadcasting
Corporation) and the Documentary Archives Radio Communications/QSL Collection
will operate special event station OE14M on 25-27th April 2014. This is an

15/04/2014: Look between 15-25th April 2014, for Pascal F5JSD, to be active
from the island of Mahe (WLOTA 3286), Seychelles Inner Islands (AF-024), as
S79SD. It will be holiday style traffic, from 40 to 10 metres (even 6 if open),
mainly CW, in the morning and in the evening. Note: for the 40m band, Pascal
will be sending CW over 7050 kHz, according to the local regulations (7050-7100
kHz), and listening probably under 7030 kHz. Pascal will use 100w into a

4Y1A & C7A Callsign Blocks -
Vienna International Amateur Radio Club (VIARC) proudly announces that VIARC
will operate stations under newly released callsigns of C7A and 4Y1A as a host
institute.
The callsign block C7A-C7Z is allocated to World Meteorological Organization
(WMO) and 4YA-4YZ is to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). VIARC
is currently operating a UN amateur radio station with the callsign 4U1VIC at
the Vienna International Centre which hosts numerous UN organizations and other
international organizations.

J52HF, GUINEA BISSAU -
Currently two team members of the Verona Dx Team are QRV as J52HF from Cumura,
Guinea-Bissau until April 5, 2014. They are primarily working at the local

STATUS UPDATE
Diya, Z81D (YI1DZ) has been in touch to inform that the current situation in
South Sudan is still not stable. He and Massimo, Z81B (IZ0EGB) have decided to
wait until at least next month to observe the situation, and if it improves they
will again operate radio.
Diya emphasised there are no restrictions on working radio but they want to
avoid any misunderstanding from different [political] parties for the time
being.

Ireland (EU-115, WLOTA 2484) to operate EI8GQB and EI1A during the CQWW WPX SSB
Contest from 22nd March to 2nd April, 2014. In 2013, Olivier scored, with EI1A,
tops Europe in CQ WW WPX, IARU HF and IOTA contests in Low Power Single Op SSB
category using green energy only and its Field Day style antenna park. 18m top
loaded vertical monopole for 160-80m-40m bands + 32 radials. Inverted V dipole
for 160-80m-40m bands. 3 elements East-West two-direction inverted V beam for
40m band. 200m long beverage RX antenna East-West directional. 2 x Spiderbeam
antennas for 20/15/10m bands. Rigs are Elecraft K3+P3 & Kenwood TS2000 100W.

and Navy announced that an exclusive amateur radio will be on board Naval Unit
of the Navy Luigi Durand de la Penne between March 22-23rd, using the special
callsign II7LDP/MM (ARMI-1111). Activity is to celebrate the 100th anniversary
of the birth of Admiral Luigi Durand de la Penne, decorated with the Gold Medal
for Military Valour for heroic action taken December 19, 1941, during the

25/03/2014: Ofcom have advised that licensed amateurs with a main station
address in Scotland will be permitted to use the special prefix "A" - GA, MA,
2A - instead of the usual "M" for the period of 25th January (Burns Night) to

instituting an award scheme for working these special prefixes throughout the

FUNcube-1 Transponder test Saturday -
There will be a test on the 435/145 MHz linear transponder this Saturday March
22
When in sunlight FUNcube-1 is normally in "Educational Mode" (transponder off
with high power beacon) but on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at approximately 0930 UT
the FUNcube team are planning to switch to "Amateur Mode" (transponder on with
low power beacon) for at least one whole orbit.
The aim of the switch on March 22 is to check the effect on the satellite of
continuous "Amateur Mode", especially battery temperature.

Radio ham operating from research vessel as DL1LLL/MM -
Lars Lehnert, DL1LLL is back on the German research vessel Maria S Merian and
will be operating in the 160-10m amateur radio bands using SSB and digital
modes.
He will be traveling for four weeks on a scientific journey from Las Palmas,
Gran Canaria to Cadiz, Spain.
The German research vessel Maria S. Merian is named after the naturalist and
illustrator Maria Sybilla Merian and is an interdisciplinary research platform
built in 2006.
The Rostock-based research vessel is used by the Leibniz Institute for Baltic
Sea Research at Warnemünde for marine research work.
Its tasks are Arctic research, research on the Gulf Stream, and seabed
research to a depth of 10 km. It has a crew of 21, and can additionally
accommodate 22 scientists. The vessel is equipped with several laboratories.
